Year in the life of a Silver Service volunteer

 

Begin earning Silver Service hours even before you begin high school!

Silver Service Claim Form

Summertime (you can begin day after 8th grade graduation):

  • Volunteer @ summer lunch program; volunteer @ Spring Lake

  • Volunteer with a kids’ sports team or in the Little League

  • Concessions Stand

  • Help an elementary teacher prepare their classroom

  • Turn in summer service hour claims at RTHS office by Labor Day
     

August through December – jump right in

  • Join one of the RTHS Service Clubs: Key Club, Interact, Student

  • Council; or clubs like FFA (Bowling for Birds fundraiser) and Spanish

  • Club: volunteer at Cinco de Mayo Festival and Day of the Dead

  • Watch the 2nd Floor D-hall Silver Service Board for opportunities

  • Volunteer or as a team sport volunteer (contact a coach)

  • At Lincoln Highway Heritage Fest

  • With District 231 elementary school HUB Project/school fun fairs

  • Student Council Make A Difference Day (usually end of October)

  • Thanksgiving Meal Distribution (Saturday before Thanksgiving)

  • Turn 1st Semester Silver Service claims in at office before the break
     

January through May

  • Office, counseling, LMC monitor/Commons set up & take down

  • Be a teacher’s assistant; volunteer with HUB Project

  • Manage a team sport or work in concession sands

  • Volunteer at church; shovel snow for elderly neighbors

  • Turn in 2nd Semester Service claims in office before you leave for
    summer vacation.

 

Seniors that have earned at least 400 service  
hours are awarded the Silver Service cord at Honors Night.
The cord is worn on their graduation gowns.
